As a parent or caregiver for someone with hemophilia with an inhibitor, you may have a lot of questions. Perhaps your child has recently been diagnosed with an inhibitor. Or maybe you would like to hear from others who share similar experiences. It helps to talk with people who are going through the same things. It is also good to know where to find help.

    Taking care of YOU

Caring for someone with hemophilia with an inhibitor is hard. For this reason, caregivers need to take care of themselves too. The good thing is that you are not alone.
    Here are some suggestions:

    • Get help from friends, relatives, and neighbors. They can give you a break or offer friendship
    • Get involved with the local chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) or Hemophilia Federation of America
    • Use your hemophilia treatment center (HTC) team. Nurses, doctors, social workers, and other professionals are there to help you deal with the strain of caring for a child with an inhibitor. Use their services
    HTC support
A strong bond with your HTC staff is vital. They are always around for you and your family when you need help. Think of the HTC staff as an extended family. They care about your needs and want you to live a happy and healthy life. Your HTC can offer information, advice, and services.

Locate your nearest HTC by contacting the NHF at 1-212-328-3700 or hemophilia.org.
