Adult education grants

As an adult with congenital hemophilia with inhibitors, congenital factor VII deficiency, or acquired hemophilia, or who is a primary caregiver, you may be eligible for a grant up to $2500 to further your education.

Professor Ulla Hedner Scholarship*
The Professor Ulla Hedner Scholarship, which is awarded to high school seniors and college or vocational students, is worth up to $7000 toward tuition or school expenses. It's very competitive but a great opportunity for those who receive it.

Tutoring and lesson grants*
SevenSECURE® awards grants up to $500 to pay for tutors, home schooling, or other things like swimming lessons, music classes, and sports. You may want to apply for a tutoring and lessons grant if your child:

  • Is in kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Needs help with schoolwork
  • Has missed at least 2 weeks of school

Medical
expenses

Dental work and cleaning
Healthy teeth and gums are important to your overall health. A visit to the dentist can be costly if you have an inhibitor, but SevenSECURE® can help cover the price of your appointment.

Assistance with other medical costs*
As a member of SevenSECURE®, you can get help paying for:

  • Outpatient medical evaluation and treatment
  • Compression devices
  • Physical therapy appointments
  • Up to 3 months of prescription assistance for nonfactor medications  for conditions related to your bleeding disorder

Physical activity reimbursement
Physical activity programs and memberships can be covered under SevenSECURE®.

  • Physical activity classes
  • Gym and health club memberships
  • Purchase of fitness equipment

Travel expenses
Going to an educational meeting or conference is a great way to meet other people with inhibitors. However, there are costs for registration, travel, lodging, food, and child care.
SevenSECURE® can help pay for these costs and keep you connected to the community. You can also be reimbursed for travel to and from medical appointments.

*Insurance premium programs are administered by Patient Services Incorporated (PSI), a leading nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. PSI evaluates requests using a sliding scale that identifies patient need beyond the aid given by many state and federal programs. This may make help available to those who do not qualify elsewhere. SevenSECURE® supports the efforts of PSI for persons with hemophilia with inhibitors, acquired hemophilia, or congenital factor VII deficiency.

Scholarship Managers Inc (SMI), an independent third party, reviews all of the applications and essays. For scholarships of a competitive nature, SMI determines awards based on internal scoring criteria. Scholarship winners will be announced each year during the summer. Payment is made directly to the school. Primary caregivers must reside at the same address as the SevenSECURE® member.

Insurance solutions

Does SevenSECURE® provide premium assistance?*

Yes. To be eligible, you must:

  • Have an active inhibitor with Bethesda units (BUs) higher than zero (can be 0.05), congenital factor VII deficiency, or acquired hemophilia
  • Have a permanent US address and legal residency
  • Demonstrate financial need

Why is there a special program for people with congenital hemophilia with inhibitors, congenital factor VII deficiency, or acquired hemophilia?

The SevenSECURE® premium assistance program is meant to give people with these bleeding disorders easier access to the support they need. We know the inhibitor and congenital factor VII deficiency community has special needs that are different from those of the hemophilia community.
